What you need to know about health and safety
Health and safety are two of the most important considerations in the workplace. Should we engage you for a contract, we are jointly responsible with the client employer for your well-being. And we take pride in the fact that, over the years, we’ve maintained a solid safety record.
We work hard to make sure that all temporary employees understand their rights and responsibilities as they relate to health and safety. Here are some of the most important things to remember:
- Follow safe work procedures
While an office environment isn’t as dangerous as a construction site, it does have its hazards. The most common accidents include slips, trips, falls and ergonomic-related injuries. These occur most often when employees don’t ask for instructions on how to complete tasks safely. If you ever have a question, ask your onsite supervisor to show you safe operating or office procedures.
- Know and comply with all Provincial safety regulations
Regulations specific to the workplace or office equipment should be posted at or near the equipment you are using.
- Report any injury or illness immediately to your staffing Consultant and on-site supervisor
Should you be injured while working for our firm, seek First Aid or medical attention immediately and notify your on-site supervisor. As soon as you are able, contact us to advise your consultant of the injury. We will work with the client employer to ensure an accident/incident investigation is completed and appropriate preventative action taken. As well, we will work with the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board to help you resume your position promptly and safely.
- Report unsafe acts and working conditions to your on-site supervisor
Every employee is responsible for reporting unsafe working conditions. Should you become aware of a hazardous condition in the workplace, inform both your on-site supervisor and staffing Consultant.
- Refuse work you feel is unsafe, and contact your staffing Consultant to discuss your concerns
Perform only the work that is safe for you to do. If you are not sure, contact your Consultant.
